OnThe Edge Of Wrong promotes improvised music as a search for “a music”which is immediate and unbound by stylistic conformity. Hence the nameof the festival, it provides an environment for music that isconventionally marginalized. We believe there is a need to create astage for stronger personal opinions, and that one way to stimulatepreference is to hold a festival for highly individualistic music. Performances of this kind are generally too few and far between in a place where it is needed.

The artists will in varying degree work sitespecific with improvisations to an art installation by Tine Semb. This installation consists mainly of object, wall-/floorpainting and light, and will be at all times visible in the venue.

We have an international cast this year including artists such as ØysteinSkar (NO) Omenås/Skarbø Duo (NO), Carlo Mombelli and the prisoners ofstrange, Brydon Bolton, Kyle Shepherd to name a few.

Omenås/Skarbø Duo and Øystein Skar are young artists at the forefront of what is happening in European improvised music today. They will be doing workshops at both College of Music in Rondebosch (Fri 27.Feb @ 13pm) and at Paul Bothner (Sat 28.Feb @ 13am, click HERE for info on the venue).

Tickets are R70 per night (R50 per night for students) OR you can buy a full festival pass for both nights, R120 (R100 for students).Performances will startat 19:00 (please note that the doors will be closed once the performances have commenced) -doors open at 18:00, and there is a cash bar and a lovely outside area to socialize at The Intimate Theatre.
