MotSol (NO)   motsol is the duo of vocalist Stine Janvin Motland and drummer Ståle Liavik Solberg. They started playing in the fall of 2004 when they met at the jazz department of The University of Stavanger. Since then they have explored the possibilities and limitations which are at hand when they work with improvised music in this setting - many times by turning the conventional roles of instrumentation upside down and exploring sounds of the more extreme kind for longer stretches. This you can hear on their record Strap On which are out on the London based FMR label. This spring motsol are finishing their masters degree in improvisation at the Norwegian Academy of Music and they are both together and by themselves working with different bands and musicians like Frode Gjerstad, Fred Lonberg-Holm, Martin Küchen, Håvard Wiik, David Stackenäs, Kitchen Orchestra, Cocky Champion and DiskJokke, to name just a few.  They will also participate in the finals of Jazzintro 2010, which is a launch programme for young bands held by the Norwegian Jazz Federation and Rikskonsertene.                            www.myspace.com/motsol
